The Purple Dance Studio

Jennie originally studied R.A.D., but then sought an examining body which offered a high standard for the "once a week" student. She has taught in Oxford and Newbury before moving to Cornwall about 40 years ago.

Past pupils include Bruce Sansom a leading dancer with the London Royal Ballet, who laterly worked in the U.S.A., Rambert Dance, and organising groups of Royal Ballet dancers at home and abroad. Bruce is now Artistic Director with SanFrancisco Ballet.

She was the first teacher in Cornwall to have a girl student enter the prestegious Royal Ballet School. Many other star pupils have trained at The Arts Educational School, Tring. Performers College, Essex, Urdang Academy, Covent Garden, and Dance College Cornwall, Falmouth.

Jennie is a founder member of the United Teachers of Dance, which, as an examining body is a member of the Council of Dance in Education and Training.

In 2004, she was presented with the "Ann Harris Award" for the help she has given to the United Teachers of Dance from its conception in 1975. A completely new syllabi was written for the ballet Major examination, and Jennie has been awarded Degree status, following her success teaching this to senior pupils.

Jennie was formerly a director of the Dance Agency Cornwall, and Honorary secretary of the Cornish Association of Ballet Schools. For several years a delegate for the United Teachers of Dance on the Council for Dance in Education and Training. Attending meetings regularly in London, she sat on committees with many representatives and directors of all the examining bodies who are members of the CDET.

In the Autumn of 2008/ 2009 she was honoured to be asked to adjudicate at a junior and senior Dance Championships in Birmingham. This included dance right across the board, ballet, tap, song and dance, lyrical, national and acrobatics.
